Discover the breathtaking landscapes of Ha Giang, Cao Bang, and Ba Be, from winding mountain roads and dramatic limestone valleys to spectacular waterfalls, caves, and peaceful lakes. Along the way, stay in welcoming local homestays, meet ethnic minority communities, explore traditional craft villages, and experience northern Vietnam in a responsible and memorable way.

Day 1: HANOI – HA GIANG – THON THA VILLAGE | 305 KM

Your tour guide and private driver will pick you up from your hotel lobby at 7:30 AM and drive toward Ha Giang, arriving at approximately 1:30 PM.

After checking in at your homestay in Thon Tha Village, enjoy some free time to explore the peaceful surroundings. Walk around the village, meet local families, and discover the traditional lifestyle of the Tay community.

You can also trek to Ha Thanh Waterfall and enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery. Spend your first night at a comfortable local bungalow in Thon Tha Village.

Day 2: THON THA – QUAN BA – LUNG CU – DONG VAN | 180 KM

After breakfast, continue your Ha Giang Cao Bang Ba Be Lake adventure toward the spectacular Quan Ba Twin Mountains and Heaven’s Gate. Enjoy panoramic views over the surrounding valleys and limestone peaks.

Continue to the H’Mong King’s Palace, a historic residence built for the H’mong royal family during the French colonial period. The palace is particularly interesting for its distinctive blend of European and Chinese architectural influences.

Next, travel to Lung Cu National Flag Tower, one of the most iconic landmarks in northern Vietnam. Located close to the Chinese border, the tower offers impressive views across the rugged mountain landscape.

Day 3: DONG VAN – MA PI LENG – NHO QUE RIVER – BAO LAC | 100 KM

Start the day with breakfast before heading toward the legendary Ma Pi Leng Pass. Stop along the way to admire the spectacular mountain scenery and enjoy lunch with a local family.

Before the boat trip, take a scenic hike along the Sky Path toward a Flower H’mong village and the viewpoints around Ma Pi Leng Mountain. Walking through this rugged landscape gives you a closer look at the traditional way of life of communities living among the limestone mountains.

In the afternoon, weather permitting, your driver and guide will transfer you to Meo Vac for a memorable boat trip along the Nho Que River.

After the boat trip, visit a traditional Lo Lo village before continuing to Bao Lac Town for your overnight stay.

Note: During periods of extreme rainfall, the Nho Que River can experience high water levels or flooding, making the boat trip unsafe. In these circumstances, we will replace the boat trip with a hike along the Sky Path and a visit to a White H’mong village on Ma Pi Leng Peak.

Day 4: BAO LAC – ANGEL EYE MOUNTAIN – CAO BANG | 120 KM

Today, enjoy a scenic drive from Bao Lac toward Cao Bang. Along the way, take a short trek to stretch your legs, enjoy the mountain scenery, and learn more about local life.

In the afternoon, visit Angel Eye Mountain, also known as Nui Thung, a striking natural landmark located in the valley of Ban Danh Hamlet.

The mountain is famous for its large natural opening through the limestone peak. Located within the Thang Hen Lake area of the Non Nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark, the surrounding landscape features green lakes, open grasslands, limestone mountains, and peaceful rural scenery.

If there are other places you would like to stop at along the route, simply let your guide know. Upon arrival in Cao Bang City, check in at your hotel and relax.

Day 5: CAO BANG – BAN GIOC WATERFALL – NGUOM NGAO CAVE | 90 KM

Today, head toward Ban Gioc Waterfall, one of Vietnam’s most spectacular waterfalls. Located in the dramatic landscape of Trung Khanh, the waterfall stretches across the Vietnam–China border and is surrounded by limestone mountains and lush countryside.

Take time to enjoy the scenery, photograph the waterfall, and soak up the peaceful atmosphere.

Continue to Nguom Ngao Cave, one of Cao Bang’s most fascinating natural attractions. The cave is famous for its impressive limestone formations, stalactites, stalagmites, and atmospheric underground chambers.

After exploring the cave, continue to your local homestay for the night and enjoy an authentic village experience.

Day 6: NGUOM NGAO – PHUC SEN BLACKSMITH VILLAGE – BA BE LAKE | 205 KM

After breakfast with your homestay family, visit Phuc Sen Forging Village, a traditional Nung craft village with a long history of blacksmithing.

Local artisans have preserved their traditional forging techniques for generations, producing practical agricultural and household tools such as knives, hoes, ploughs, and scissors.

After exploring the village, continue your journey toward Ba Be Lake. Enjoy the changing scenery as the rugged mountains of Cao Bang gradually give way to the peaceful landscapes of Ba Be National Park.

Arrive in Pac Ngoi Village, a traditional Tay community on the shores of Ba Be Lake, where you will spend the night at a local homestay.

Day 7: BA BE LAKE – FULL-DAY BOAT TRIP

Today is dedicated to discovering the natural beauty and cultural diversity of Ba Be National Park.

Travel by local boat across Ba Be Lake and enjoy the spectacular combination of limestone mountains, forests, waterways, and traditional villages.

Visit Puong Cave, known for its impressive limestone formations and large bat population. Continue along the Nang River toward Dau Dang Waterfall, where the river flows through a dramatic rocky landscape.

Along the way, your guide will introduce you to local communities and help you learn more about the cultures of ethnic groups living in the region, including the Tay, H’mong, and Dao.

Enjoy lunch at a local village restaurant before continuing your exploration of Ba Be.

Return to the same homestay in Pac Ngoi Village for the night.

Day 8: BA BE – HANOI | 229 KM

Enjoy breakfast at your homestay before exploring Ba Be National Park by bicycle. Cycle along quiet roads beside the river, surrounded by mountains, valleys, forests, caves, and rice fields.

Keep an eye out for local birds and butterflies as you experience the peaceful countryside at a slower pace.

On the way back toward Hanoi, stop at Hua Ma Cave, a spectacular cave featuring thousands of stalactites and stalagmites. The cave remains atmospheric and relatively peaceful, making it an interesting final stop before leaving Ba Be.

Continue your journey back to Hanoi.
